anybody have the type R final drive with boost?...i have it right now and am going to get it installed this week and was wondering if anybody had any experience with this?...
don't have any first hand experience but I would think it would be a waste and might even hurt you...when your boosting this car you are already putting a lot of power to the ground and climbing up through the revs very quickly, all this is going to do is increase the ratios and make those revs climb quicker, which in the lower gears would make traction even more of a problem....it's good for NA when you don't have as much power and want to magnify the effects of the power you have with higher acceleration, but I remember from when I had my crx, a lot of the guys who were boosting actually used a taller final drive so they could be in boost for longer throughout each gear....

I say if you have enough traction go for it, but if not it will only make it more difficult to launch. It all depends on your setup. I would think about doing all the traction mods first and maybe consider buying a set of slicks first.

Taller final drive would have its benefits especially while boosting. As it is, the type-S already has short gearing. I would rather prefer a 5spd manual for boosting because of the longer gearing. Traction, we can't even get good traction in 1st gear naturally aspirated; now appling forced induction makes traction a larger issue. The type-R final drive limits your top speed to 130ish(don't know specific mph). I guess the Type-R final drive would be beneficial at the track w/some slicks. IMO, I'd rather modify the tranny for everyday driving.

Actually Bip, with the stock rsx tranny, stock rev limit, and the type r FD the top speed is about 166mph. Thats faster then you would ever need to go except maybe on a very high speed road racing course. The ITR FD isvery good upgrade a long as you have enough traction. IT also would allow a higer powered car to finish farther up in 5th, the gear cars running lower 11s will have to be in to trap high enough to run those times. It really all depends on yoiur setup though.

I dunno where I saw those numbers. Oh well, then it seems that the typer fd would be a good investment w/lsd combo.
