Its a toss up...I got conflicting info. when I was in search of the Type R ecu vtec engagement point. WELL, now that I am running the dc5r ecu I would have to say vtec is at 5800 just like the dc5 ecu. BUT its difficult to tell because I dont have a huge vtec jump with my current mods. 5800 / 6100, both are believable. I would email Hondata to find out 100% for sure.
Like I said, I am running the dc5r ecu and I cant tell for sure. :dontknow:
I thought you had a problem with that ECU. Did you get another one?
My engine is basically a type-r, I want the the type-r vtec point. Honda put
a lot of engineering man-hours into the calibration. OEM calibrations usually
have the best drivability. I'll try changing the vtec point to 5800 and 6100
and see how it responds. I've got it at 5600 right now and it seems to work
OK. Going lower with vtec actually feels like I loose power. The
engine doesn't really have a lot of power until it hits 6000 rpm.
