Weird sounds comming from car?

So a couple months past I noticed a very odd noise comming from what sounds like my tranny?..

from about 1k-4k rpm my car whines like it has a cheap supercharger, it's almost like our reverse squeal but a higher pitch. It's very noticeable when the windows are down and it's worrying me. I can hear it over my Magnaflow exhaust so it's fairly loud.

I was asked after I pulled in to a gas station if I had a supercharger by a guy in a mach1.. so other people notice it too.

Took it to acura but I don't think they heard it, said it was the heat shield.. messed with that and its still there. Any ideas?

It's not letting me edit my post so..

Edit: I've got an 04 auto. Recently seafoamed w/ good results and changed the oil w/ mobil 1 if any of that matters to my problem.
I have the same problem. It doesnt bug me though. It just does it for me when Im cruising in very low rpm like you said, which is when Im at a residential or something. I just got used to it. Fake s/c ftw haha
I have the same problem with my 97accord. However the whine does not stop when the car is in neutral going 35+mph
i have a funny supercharged whine when im on the highway with the AC on lol..
So I'd assume it's normal then? I just don't want to be driving then suddenly explode into a thousand pieces.. even though it's my ultimate goal in life:rolleyes:, I don't want it to happen while driving :firemad:
Weird words coming from your computer? It's fucking C O M I N G, fuck!
same problem here.... but just pretend its a supercharger, your car will appear to be faster.
is it only happening in reverse? or is it happening just during normal driving? my car had the same problem, but it was the brake pad wear sensor apprently. even when i wasnt touching my brakes, it would make the whining noise in reverse and while cruising at a low rpm like you said. i just got my pads changed and the whine went away...

hopefuly that helped, or eliminated a possible cause.

Does it go away when you engage your clutch?
sounds like your tranny?

how's your ATF? Full, clean?
i heard the same sound when i had my rsx. i've heard people say it was the power steering pump, but who knows. i just put my music louder so i didnt hear it
My buddy had something similar to his Monaco. Turned out to be the alternator.

Check your belt for frays.
Has your battery recently died?
Try to locate the sound with the hood up and somone slowly revving your car.
yeaaa dont go ignoring it especially if its as loud as you say it is. I would trouble shoot for alternator and tranny. Or maybe its your brakes if it only happens when you move. Ask a trusted mechanic if you dont have one im sure one of your friend will.

My battery did recently die.. left the lights on @ my friends house, were drinking and had pooled the keys in his safe so I couldn't get to them to turn em off :\.. I'll have to try figuring out where it is when I get out of class. My uncle is a mechanic but he's half deaf so it doesn't work in my favor to have him try to hear it.

To the guy who corrected my spelling, suck my doorknob lettuce licker. I'm not an english major nor do I care.

ATF seems clean, but I'm due for a change as I'm nearing 50k miles. I just changed my pads so it's not those, nor is it a metallic whine.

Thanks for the replies, I'll let you guys know what's going on with it soon, hopefully..
not good, soudn to hera i got this same noise 3 days later my tarnny blew apart literally.

go get it checked ASAP
i know most type s' will whine in 1st and 2nd gear... i know mine does... most people find this noise after going to the track
