tons of threads on this...

stock filter and change it when the manual says to.
K&N Filter. Just clean it every 30,000 miles with the recharger kit. Make sure you rotate it once in a while.
I use $2 Supertech oil filters. Filters are essentially all the same. Puralator Pure 1 and Fram Tough Guard are good "premuim" filters. Air filters get more efficient with use. I go a full 30k because the bigger pores get filled up and the air is forced through progressively smaller ones, producing BETTER filtration. One flow is adequate, more flow does nothing. Thaink about it.
spoon sports here! nothing special except insane price tag, but my gas mileage went from 25 to 28, it sounds nicer, and it felt a little bit peppier. Im a mechanic and i know how to feel for differences, so dont expect to feel anything drastic. If you do... its all in your head!
I use fram because they have that grip end, and it's so much less work to take the filter out....I hate it when i used to use oem filters and I can't get it off cos it slips.

doesnt slip if you use the right tool
Amsoil
HAMP oil filter from japan. It has a check valve to prevent oil pressure loss/drop.

yea we all know that. I use my hand and a 17mm wrench for an oil change. So whatever is most convenient to do with the 2 tools I have is what I will use.

a good rag helps u grip the filter better... ive had that fram grip shit melt off before, its basically pointless. if ur that unsure of ur ability to grip and tighten an rsx filter, fork up the cash for a band wrench or get one of ur friends who doesnt have a vagina to help u :p (this directed at those who do not actually have vaginas... chicks chaging oil is hawt)

 You are robbing your gas mileage due to inadequate air flow...

dude, I'm fine with fram, when it shits on me like it did to you, then ok I'll get a rag. dont' try to sound all tough and shit cos you know how to grip a honda filter, we all can..Walmart is 2 mins away from me, I'll buy whatever is cheap and allows me to take it off easiest. And why the fuck do u care what filter I use because of whatever reason I have? I said I use Fram cos I like it, don't have to lecture me telling me I don't have abilities, I've done plenty of car work and probably know as much or even more than you.
!

Define "inadequate".

Wow, newsflash, take your filter out and see a huge mpg gain! I assume you did controled tests to determine this or did you just read it off a cereal box? You should definately forward you test results to all the auto mfgs, EPA, CAFE and every governing body concerned with vehicle fuel efficiency. Here's my newsflash, once flow is sufficient, more flow does NOTHING. By your logic, if I fixed the nosecone from an ICBM onto my intake I'd get like what....200 mpg?:rotfl:

Bzzt.

Look kid, go cover 99% of your air filter with mud and justify where you are getting better filtration because the air is getting forced through "progressively smaller holes." Then you can forward your test results to Jerry's Kids and maybe they will accept you. By your logic I could put a sock in my throttle body and get 45mpg.
Spoon or Mugen drop in filters, FTW!!!!!!:weeeeeeeeee:
me to:thumbsup:
