Would you guys consider the Toda N2 Engine kit over the ITR cams and reflash? I mean with Toda you get valve springs rated to handle 9k revs safely, lowers vtec engagment to about 3900RPM and also the ECU is tuned already for I/Race Header/Exhaust? The gains and reliability over the ITR combo would justify the additional 1200$? I think it's worth it.
Toda's nice, for sure. It's just so frickin expensive!!

Peace

WhiZ
yeah thats true lol. But the cool thing is it's pretty much tuned and a plug n' play install. Good gains might I add :thumbsup:
The ITR route is also pretty much plug and play... but for cheaper than TODA. TODA is so sweet but like WHIZ said... $$$ I haven't seen any 1320 times for the TODA kit though... Maybe grip is an issue and the times don't reflect how much more power TODA makes over the ITR setup.
I would love to see a side by side dyno between an ITR setup and Toda setup. (cams, VS, flash) ITR setup having S2000 springs maybe...
I think TODA makes slightly more power then the ITR setup but is it worth the extra $$$ for TODA when you can get about the same (slightly less) by going the ITR route for cheaper. But you got to love the 9k redline of TODA.

It's been done, EDO/Ron did it. However it was done with the Spec A's not the new N2 cams, and he did it with I, IM, IMG, H, E. I believe the numbers were something along the lines of:250.2whp/162.2tq for TODA and 235.5whp/160.9tq for the ITR cams, but you'll have to search for actual dyno graphs so you can see what the powerband looked like for each. :thumbsup:

Nice it looks like what ever rout you do go you are gona have a fast rsx
some guys on honda-tech say u can make the same power with stock type-s cams and that the only difference between ITR cams and the type-s is more duration, so the hp gain is not worth it maybe (1-4whp). could someone clarify this i plan on doing itr cams when i get some cash saved....
well hondawerx did race badog at the track, that's pretty much yer ITR vs Toda setup right there hehe. it was a 13.7 vs 13.8 right?

They are correct in that the difference between the Type S cams and the Type R cams is the duration, they are incorrect in stating that the Type S cams give the same power as the Type R cams. We have dyno graphs that prove otherwise.

I don't think that very accurate. One of the main reason why the ITR is so much faster than the Type S is the difference in the cams. Though there are a few other differences, the cams are key in separating the ITR from the Type S.

Actually the cams are pretty ineffective by them selves. It really is a combination of the cams longer duration, .5 higher compression ratio, intake and exhaust manifold and the reprogramed ECU to control it all that separates the ITR from the RTS. People who were just using the cams by themselves with nothing else were no seeing the gains they expected. :driving:

Like I said, there ARE other differences between the ITR and Type S but the cams are key. IF the ITR had the same cams as the Type S with just a .5 higher compression ratio, intake and exhaust manifold being the only difference between the two, you will still be no where near the number that the ITR has now. The cams and ECU to utilize the more aggressive cams are an imperative part of the whole set up.

me= 13.905 ITR setup

badog= 13.85 Toda N2 setup

same track same day. badog even had 16in slipstreams, while i had 17in work emotions. both of us were runnin Azenis. This was my first time dragging my RSX at the track.
thanks guys for clearing it up.

so if i went itr intake manifold, itr cams, hondata k-pro, img, it would be a worthwhile set up. this would be in addition to my current set up injen cai (soon probably next two weeks), dc race header, borla exhaust... are mid to low 13s possible?

13.9 seems right with typr R set-up...i have the k20a swap and so far my fastest was a 13.92 with shitty tires...

Maybe they were talking about Type-S cams with Honata flash vs Stock ITR. If so, THEN that statement would be close to accurate. But if you do the same thing with the ITR cams (Hondata flash) then the ITR cams still walk over the Type-S cams/w flash.
