Hey Everyone, I was driving home last night and my passenger side CV axle decided to snap in half leaving me stranded, I was able to get the car home but now I'm trying to figure out what brand CV axle to use. I hear lots of the cheap ones I would find on most websites like rockauto will give me issues with clunking turning etc which I never had with my old ones and im looking to avoid. The car is pretty stock when it comes to how much power its putting down and it is a 5spd so I don't really need to for anything too overkill but im looking for close to OEM quality without breaking the bank at a dealership. If anyone has any experience with aftermarket CV axles I would love to hear.
Thanks in advance

Honestly, your best bet is to find used OEM ones. I will always rebuild OEM Japanese axles before buying cheap aftermarket ones. 250k honda axles are going to be better.

Also, if your axle “just snapped” thats another problem you need to address first before just throwing another axle in. Axles don’t just “snap” If its a CV joing that broke, then thats usually due to lack of lubrication, and or a torn boot where water got in, and no maintenance was done other than just “throwing a boot on”

I tried looking around for rebuilt ones but I couldn't find anything that people were recommending and I've heard bad things about some of the remanufacturing process leading to premature wear. Unfortunately the nearest part outs are about 2 hours out which doesn't really help as I'm out a car. I did send a email to raxles to get a quote as I heard they are good but also expensive.

After inspecting the area I believe it snapped due to moisture being trapped under the rubber piece in the middle causing rust and a weak point to form, both boots were in perfect condition and there were 0 signs of a bad axle while driving before it went.

I shot them an email for a quote because I heard good things and they said $350 if I trade in the old one which is pretty reasonable or $4,500 without OEM trade in. Seeing as mine was snapped in two they didn't want it, I only paid 4,300 for the car so I passed on that option lol

I needed something quick so I went with Napa, just installed them tonight and I can't feel or tell any difference, visually very similar to the OEM minus the vibration damper in the middle although that is what caused my OEM one to break so not a big loss in my books
