Yes, and oil pan issue should be dealt with if trying to rev to 8000+.
The type-s one is much beefier, and acts like a girdle for the bottom end.

no, the a3 oil pump has balance shafts

are you just running type-s cams in the head, or did you do the full swap, intake mani, tb, ecu etc?

 

so would ips k2/toda/ ect...cams work for the cam swap or would the lift be too much for the base and cause valve lash?? and if u didnt lock the 2 pins together would the cam swap still work???:questionm

Good work. Sounds like an economical way of getting more power. I would probably just get an A2 swap if I had a base though cause I'd be worried about reliability issues. I've been told I'm paranoid though...

 

The intake manifold on the 02 SI and the type-s are the same. It is a full k20a3 from an 02 SI with the camshafts and valvetrain being the only thing I changed on the motor. It was tuned on a kpro. The whole plan from the begining was to turbo charge this car so that's what I will be doing next. This is only one of my many projects. This one is actually the last one on my list to work on so I am not going to be doing anything else like changing the manifold or cams. Any aftermarket cam will fit it's just a matter of doing testing to see if they make more power. I am more worried about working on my full race motors so I won't be doing anything more on this car till I turbo charge it.

Dont forget that you'd want to upgrade the valve train and I still really wouldn't rev the a3 block past 8600k... and thats really pushing it... Chunky pushes 8600k every day but it still makes me worry... hehe

I'm guessing i'd need the oil pan from the a2, what about the oil pump, does it need to be changed. I'm not worried about revving ridiculously high, but I want to get as much power out of this engine as I can. I already have kpro, so if you can just give me some pointers and maybe a shopping list i'd be eternally grateful.
