Hey everyone,

'05 RSX Base AT here.

Been dealing with a PS leak for the past month. Trying to figure out which parts I need and perhaps tips to fully diagnose and resolve this issue. I have gone through two bottles of Acura PS Fluid so time to pony up this long weekend and fix it.

The leak seemed to start from the pump Inlet Hose so I tried the cheap/easy fix of replacing the O-Ring (91345-RDA-A01) and reservoir cap.

Now it seems to be coming from the pump Outlet Hose, pictured below:

Does the entire line need to be replaced or can I get away with the Outlet seal? The leak is doing a number on my serpentine belt, so I'll likely replace that and possibly the valve seals next. For now just need advice on the leak.

Thanks everyone!

Can Power Steering feed hose be removed from top of engine block?

I received my replacement high pressure PS hose this week and plan on switching it out this weekend.

Can this thing be swapped from the top of the engine bay or will I need to pull off a wheel and/or jack it up to unbolt the hose from the inside of the valve body unit?

Rather than starting a new thread I will bump this one.

So the issue I am having with my power steering is that it is making a whine noise while I turn the wheel and gets progressively louder if I try to make a u-turn.

I replaced the Pump Outlet Hose pictured above in the diagram because I was leaking fluid from one of the gaskets/metal connectors. I did not use an OEM hose but an aftermarket one due to the price difference in OEM($230) and aftermarket($100).

Important to note, the whine started AFTER replacing the hose. I checked the reservoir and didn't notice any bubbles, dirty fluid, or loss of fluid, but not 100% sure that there isn't any air in the lines.

Any ideas what could be causing the whining noise? I am thinking it is either 1) the aftermarket hose may not be letting enough fluid out to circulate, 2) air in lines, 3) bad PS pump, or 4) O-ring(s) may be bad.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

When I experienced this with a CRV; it was due to low fluid in the reservoir. The whining only happened when the steering wheel was turned. I couldn't find the leak. But the fluid level would slowly get low over time. There were no frothy bubbles in the reservoir or obvious extra crud around the connecting hose.

So... not sure what's happening with your setup. But it does seem like air in the lines is a good place to start.

Power Steering Leak

I have a base 06 rsx I started to notice my power steering making yawing sound I added power steering fluid thinking it would fix the problem I did not over fill the car seemed better for a little bit until I started to keep hearing the yawing sound when I turn the wheel I didn’t think to much about it until I recently did an oil change and saw my power steering fluid had been leaking from the big hose above the engine I cleaned the area to see if it would still leak and it did it drips down to the heat plate above my stock headers not too often but it has it doesn’t leak a lot but it’s a noticeable there is a leak coming from there anyone know how I can fix this or what the problem might be?
