PSA: silicone pads - clutch pedal (no cruise control or starter not engaging); brake pedal (stop lights always on)

RSX Acuras are getting old, so the plastic hardens. I had these 3 issues in relatively close time frame:

1) cruise control stopped working (clutch pedal pad cracked)
2) stop signals wouldn't turn off (brake pedal pad) - this one can kill the battery, have to pull the fuse while you wait for the pads to get shipped to you
3) starter would not engage at all (clutch pedal pad) - had to get some nearby dudes push the car to start so I could get home

The 3rd issue was the scariest, but happened after the 1st and the 2nd, so I happened to have the pads on hand already. In all cases there were broken yellowish hard plastic pieces on the drivers side floor mat. To buy replacements, look for these keywords on Amazon: "Silicone Brake Clutch Pedal Stop Pads Compatible with Accord Civic Acura". See the image below for how they look like.

In addition to the switch hitting pads, the blue pad where the clutch pedal hit the wall also cracked and fell off (see the picture below where the blue pad was still in place) - I could replace it with the same silicon pad as the other pads. The new white pad is smaller than the original blue one, but still big enough such that the pedal hits it when fully pressed.

A few people on the forum simply splice the switch wires together when pads fall off - and that does not seem like such a great idea. Spent a couple of bucks, and keep the OEM safety features intact!
