I have a base rsx and mostly i am into modding the look. So I just thinking to get an universal muffler. What price should look to spend to get the look and the sound to match my oem lip kit? Should I get ones over 100 on a universal muffler? how are those "style" muffler on ebay? or should i get an actual brand name universal muffler such as Apexi universal muffler? Thanks.

mine is a auto base, so not looking to perform but i would like the look of a performance car, the stock base tip looks too small to match with the oem kit and wing. I don't want to waste money on the full catback because all i want is look and sound. so plz help

only spent $400 total on my Magnaflow (cost of getting it and installing) and if you want good sound then i'd get a full catback...but maybe that's just me...i also have a base auto too

Axle-backs are exhausts where the piping is from the axle to the muffler. Catbacks have piping from the cat-converter to the muffler. With that said, installing/uninstalling an exhaust is the easiest thing you could do. Just unbolt the existing one and bolt in the new one.

EDIT: just get a full stock Type-S exhaust system for about $100.

If you just weld on a muffler, you shouldn't lose any power but you don't gain anything which is a definite waste of $. As for type-s exhuast notes, just search for them...

By the way you don't need to make a new post for every sentence.

Pretty much all catbacks give similar gains. Just look for one with 2.25" piping and you should be set. It all comes down to the sound and style of the exhaust. I personally have an HKS Hi Power catback.

EDIT: Search the site for soundclips but here's a thread with a bunch of photos. I know it's for the Type-S but the cannister style should be the same for base versions of the exhaust.

Mingdd, I would get a brand name universal muffler so you have some kind of warranty, it's just safer. Companies like DC Sports or Apexi has a lot of mufflers. You don't have to restrict yourself to what are called Universal Mufflers, Apexi has a whole range of mufflers that have unique looks to them. The size, shape, and material are what will determine the sound of the muffler. It will be nice to have the option of a silencer, too, for when you're driving on the interstate and don't want that continuous droning sound (silencers also add a bit of low end torque at the expense of a lot of top end, so more passing power too). I'm sure your local auto store has some unique mufflers in stock, too. Try Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts, might want to call them up just to check so you can see them in person.

That's all there is to it, just find a muffler of which you like the look. We can't help you with that.

I have a Tsudo catback...cheap <$300.00> and gives as good gains as any catback...don't just slap on a muffler w/o any piping or anything, just to be a ricer and look as if you modded the car. 9/10 times you can tell when a car has just slapped on a universal coffee can, because they won't be straight on, they look angled because the stock piping is angled...i laugh at these cars.

You can have the muffler aligned properly to come out straight. That's about as difficult as peeling a banana.

If its mounted to a straight thru pipe yeah, but when they are mounted to angled pipes you can? I dunno, i see alot of angled cans that look like they are just welded on to a stock angled pipe...
