On second thought, the front kinda looks like a Toyota Camry

am I the only one here that thinks this is a hugely dissapointingly bland car?

No, Im with you on that. I also can't get over the fact that they won't get rid of that motherfucking grille. What joke. I remember reading K20A2 saying we won't be disapointed but if those powertrain options listed on page two are actually offical, then I am. Also, with the integrated exhaust manifold, the fact that the brakes will likely not make it to the production version and the four doors, I can't help feeling like Acura is still shooting way too low. Why not make it FI SH/AWD? Yet another failure by a failing brand, IMHO.

Also, 12 years later and the US car gets no horse power increase from the 06 type S and thereby a pressumably marginal bump in torque. What makes this thing desirable?

Lower price, lower weight (which was a little bit of a hurt on the TSX), and I'd assume a lower production cost as it shares the platform with the Civic, which is produced here rather than overseas.
but all marginally so. same engine as TSX...it's essentially the same car IMO.

You look at that, and a TSX, and an RSX, and need to pair 2. which 2 do you pick?

I agree. I think Acura needed a lot more "oomph" to get back into the big sales, but this miiiight be just enough.

The TSX doesn't have the RWD to be put head-to-head with the IS250 and 328i. It was priced a little lower, but just didn't fit in. The V6 really put it in there, but again, without RWD, it's just the wrong segment.
It was also competing more with the "base" levels, as the IS350, 335i and A4 Quattro all came with optional AWD, more power, and a bigger sticker.

On the other end, the TSX also came up as a little on the pricey side and a little porky to really be put in competition with cars like the Audi A3, Volvo S40 or even something like the John Cooper Works Mini.

So cutting a few pounds and a few bucks might put it into a more appropriate segment.

don't see how this is the rsx replacement it's touted to be. besides the obvious difference at 4 doors, it looks to be roughly TSX-size...no clue why acura would want to cannibalize their TSX market like that unless they serious underprice it with the ILX (which again i doubt)
