okay so figured out where the green plug went. I still had the peice attached to my old dash behind the stereo area. I put it on and now my key fob is working but the car still wont start. Any suggestions?

 

What's the green key light doing?

 

it comes on during the cluster light check then goes off when trying to start. It only comes back on after you return the key to the I position letting you know your key is still in the ignition.

 

I did notice I don't hear the gas pump priming. Not sure what that might mean as far as a dash swap is concerned with making the pump stop working.

 

Did you disconnect the battery, could try a reset that way. Check fuel pump fuse as well.

Marko16 - I did try the battery reset and fuses and it is a no go. I also took my battery to get it charged just in case and still nothing.

Thewrai6th - thanks for the photos. I’ll take a look at them and see if I’m missing something.

 

Don't forget the dash VIN. Mismatched VIN will get your car towed and impounded.

 

My dash has no vins and I have no issues. You have vins all over the car.

 

No worries. I will be sure to put that on my car when I get a chance. I know that police check it when you get pulled.
So I’m STILL working on this but I have narrowed it down to the fuel no priming. I hear the click of the fuel pump relay and I get voltage to the pump harness. I’m wondering if I fried the pump somehow during install (even though I had my battery out the whole time). So I’ve ordered a new pump and it will be here Saturday and I will install it this weekend. I miss my car and need it back on the road ASAP. Any lthing else that might be causing this that I might be missing?

 

You might try replacing the entire fuel pump assembly. I had a lot of issues too after replacing just the pump two times. Car wasn't starting / running. Then put a used assembly in there and it fired right up!

Might sound like a PITA, but you could swap the original dash back in. If you're not missing any connections the old dash should work. If it does, then there may be something wrong with the new dash. There is a lot of wiring and electronics involved that could fail.

If the old dash doesn't work, you're either missing some connection, using the wrong year dash, or you have some other gremlins screwing with your car.

That's all I have for you, as my dash swap was plug and play. I was amazed that it started right up.

 

OK, one more thing. Did you (have to) swap the chip reader for the key?

Just an update to this issue for those who run into a similar problem since all posts similar to this one have been left unanswered with the resolution (if they found one).

Soooo my car has been sitting since 6-15-2018 as i tried to figure out what the issue was. I replaced the fuel pump with one I purchased off of Partsgeek.com. I did this because i was not hearing the fuel pump prime when starting the car. That didn’t fix the issue. I then realized i did not have volatage going to the fuel pump connector, so I checked all my fuses and relays and everything tested fine. Come to find out I had the fuel pump wiring plugged into the wrong location on the dash harness. Once this was corrected, there was voltage now going to the fuel pump connector. The car still didn’t start, so it was narrowed down to the fuel pump again. I purchases do another fuel pump, this time with the assembly and all. Installed it and the car started right up. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues. My black interior swap is now complete!!!


TL;DR - Fuel pump wiring was plugged into the wrong location on the dash wiring harness. Fuel pump was also dead. Replaced pump and car started.

 

When you plugged it into the wrong plug, and tried to start it, you probably shorted it out.
