i could only imagine the dc5r bpipe would be bigger than the 02 types bpipe. if anything the same size as the 05 type s bpipe

if they look the same, then its not worth the trouble. i could tell the difference in looks when comparing my 05 exhaust vs 02

 

Only thing different from the 02-04 Type S exhaust to 05-06 exhaust is the mufflfer tail pipe design
the Type R is no different

 

The piping is a larger diameter with the 05-06/type-r.

 

The dc5r has a bigger pipe. I still have my factory catback 02 type s, recently picked up a 05-06 catback, and had a dc5r catback for a while. Just by looking I think the dc5r b pipe might be a little bigger than the 05-06 type s.

 

05-06 is few mm wider k20z1 cam, larger exhaust = 210 hp!

 

Here guys... you tell me if there is a difference or not.

Agreed.

 

If there is a difference, not enough (IMO) to warrant paying extra just to have the bigger one.

 

I have an 04 and a 06 type S mid pipe sitting around in my garage. If i have time this upcoming weekend, i will snap a shot side by side. From my understanding, the 05-06 Type S is the same mid pipe as a type r, and they ae both slightly larger than the 02-04 style

This is a lot of chatter over 1.2whp.

If were going to argue over 2mm of extra diameter lets argue about how that extra 2mm weighs more.

 

The one on the bottom with the longer tip is the Type R version.

Below is a closer shot of the tip on the Type R

 

05-06 S midpipe and muffler is larger than 02-04 S midpipe and muffler. Not sure about the DC5R though. I have a RH with the 05-06 exhaust and it seems to flow better than the older one.

 

02-04 small piping that will rob your power.

05-06 larger piping that will help your power.

Type-R larger piping that will help your power, accompanied by a muffler that opens in high rpms helping make even more power.
