So....I got rear ended today and was pushed into the guy in front of me. Really sucks balls!!

Anyway. Both headlights are cracked and will have to be replaced. I have DEPO black JDM style headlights. I love them. Never had a single problem with leakage or fogging. Anyway... I am going to buy replacements and have the body shop just cut a check to me for the price of the stock headlight and put them on instead.

I originally bought DEPO from CRSX however I don't see them offered in the store anymore. Searching....I found both DEPO and TYC brand that look identical.

Are the TYC and DEPO the same or do you prefer one over the other. I will be putting an HID kit already purchased on. And before you speak....i don't want/ or have time to retrofit projectors. I also hate the look of the aftermarket projectors. If it didn't have the rediculous Halo, then I would consider it however no company makes a projector without HALO. (Prove me wrong please)

Real experience responses only please

Cliffs:
Accident with DEPO Lights
Need to replace
Loved Quality of DEPO
TYC or DEPO black housing different or same(aside of price)??
Will use HID
Don't have time/patience to retrofit
Don't like projector style because of shitty looking Halo

Thanks Guys!!

I will post pics later of damage. Kinda cool cause I had some scuffing on the rear bumper and some pits on the front ;)

Links with a good price appreciated too!!

the film is peeling on my depos to. i dont know what it is. its almost all the way peeled off so i guess it should be fine. i dk? does anyone know what that film is for or is it important?

thread starter: just do black outs, less problems

Are you sure you are not talking about the protective film that it is packaged with. You are supposed to take that off. The outside is clear plastic.

I loved my depos.....there were no fitment issues. It lined up perfectly and looked good. You can see the quality is similar to the OEM. I have seen cheap headlights and tail lights believe me. DEPO was probably the best I have seen.

AND.....

JDM is over rated, over priced and there is too much crap out there using the JDM tag to make a sale :noes:.

I just like the clean look.

Have you every tried DEPOS??? Also the JDM Lights have a slightly different beam patters as I have heard due to the left hand drive. I don't want to blind oncoming traffic.

Also...just FYI your quote is supposed to be "than" not "then" - sorry just a weird pet peeve

I just don't have time to DIY the blackouts. Just started a new job and I have a new house.

I will probably just get DEPO again.

thanks

If your lenses are cracked bake them and take out the guts the part that everyone paints. That is where I got the ones for mine it makes it so much nicer because you can take your time letting the paint dry all the way but you don't have to have all the down time. I bought them off some one on here so I am sure you could sell the internals and make some extra cash.

I just bought TYC blacked out headlights from ebay, i would say is an okay quality...they dont fit perfectly but acceptable. If i look really2 closely, the sides a lil bit bulged out but it's only a lil bit so it's not that obvious. They are a lil bit heavier than the stock headlights. Mine also have minor condensation prob in front of the high beam area but it's not that much. But again, i assume every unit would be different than one another since they're replica...

Does any of these JDM style headlights have them where there isn't any writing printed on the lower part of the headlight? I see in many pics of the driver's side like this.

What about the black color finish in the lights? How does it compare to a DIY black out or JDM? I've heard it's flat black instead of a gloss.. :(

Just put on my Depo's today (stockies were getting all cloudy) and so far so good. The light pattern is full of imperfections but nothing that impairs my ability to see anything. As far as looks, they are  and I was really surprised when I was installing them and found that they fit even better than my stock lights.

I hear Depos are hit or miss, so it seems like I ended up with a hit, but I'll be sure to share with CRSX if my opinion changes later on.

Now to figure out if there's anyone that could possibly want to adopt a pair of foggy, scratched up stock lights...
