@rerx

Yeah it doesn't. The gains you'll make are minimal at best. In the end it comes down to preference and personal taste. To me, 1-3 HP is not enough for me to go one way or the other. You wont feel it anyway.
I've tuned a few different cars with pwjdm intakes. An actual CAI always beats them by more like 10 horsepower. These new 3.5" cai's generally make as much as 15 to even TWENTY whp more than the pwjdm intake does.

the pwjdm intake is a pile of dog crap. It looks like a testicle too.

Are you tuning cars in forza Motorsport?

That's just a plain ridiculous statement man. I'd like to see proof of this.

Just as an FYI, 10C in air temp has a change of 0.96% density. So, in theory, every 10C your intake temp drops improves power by 0.96%, or around 2HP.

I did some data logging with my AEM SRI. Outside temp was around -9C. Lowest IAT reading was 10C (on the highway), hottest was 28C (stop/go traffic). So I stand to gain between 2-4% in power, or 4-8HP. (this was also without going over 3500RPM, so my coolant temp was only around 80C, also no heating from sun light - hot summer days that sun will turn the hood into a furnace which will only increase heat soak)

The PWJDM intake would be getting pretty cool air. Cooler than my SRI but warmer than a CAI. So the power difference shouldn't be huge.

However, there's other aspects of it that affect performance too (ie: shape/design).

Perhaps not, but 215-220 whp isn't out of the realm of reason. My car actually did make 225 whp. So i don't see how that's an unreasonable number.

Man i didn't realize what kind of bubble you rsx guys are stuck in. The 8th gens are continuing to innovate and you guys are stuck in 2005. 220 whp happens every day on 8thgens...

If you were closer i'd seriously be open to throwing you on a dyno and just bolting my intake to your car and sticking it into the air so you can see the difference.

You guys seriously underestimate the power difference that can be made by PROPERLY designing the actual intake, it's not just about iat's.
The Intake Manifold has a thousandfold more importance in tuning for helm-holtz resonance than anything after the throttle body. Between the filter and TB there's only 2 things of importance - low temps and low pressure. There is a little more to it than that for optimal like how a longer tube will flow at a higher velocity but that's not of as much significance.

They work together as a unit. The RBC manifold causes positive effecting resonance around 6000 rpms (also the entire design of the motor is based around the VE at 6000 rpms) but there's also resonance that negatively affects power, and it's usually around 5000-5400 rpms. I've already seen the gains (why don't you just read the threads over on 8thcivic...

ANYWAYS. This thread is talking about intakes because some crazy dude made 201 hp and thinks he'll only make 2-3 more horsepower with a real intake.

I think he'll be pleasantly surprised if he were to put one on...

Tell ya what.. Send me this all powerful intake you speak of and I will do a before and after dyno.. I've already posted 3 separate dyno results of before and after mods so I think you and everyone else on here can trust me :dontknow:

Not really sure why you're comparing your civics intake and my rsx intake when they are different in design anyways. At the end of the day I enjoy the way my intake looks and sounds so why do you care so much? And eventually I will switch intakes just to see what the difference is for myself not because someone bashed the intake I have:shakehead
