So i stumbled across a k24a4 from an accord with 23,xxx miles on it, head, block, tranny, ecu, everything, for 500 bucks today. im debating wheather or not i want to buy it. it's an auto tranny, so that would get scrapped. i also stumpled upon a k24a2 block and head out of an 07 TSX with 56,xxx miles on it for 700. im wondering which would be the better buy.
my goal is to do a k24 build over this up coming fall/winter. it by no means will happen any sooner than that, but it will happen. anyways, for the "short" run i'd like to do a k24/k20 build with built valvetrain. of coarse RBC/I/TB/RH/E. and i know the k24a2 block would be better for a N/A setup due to compression. so here's my first question, would i benefit much from even doing a k20(a2) head? or is the k24a2's head good enough/better for N/A build? if someone with experience can voice their input that would be great.
also, i pllanned on going with the buddy club header, will it clear the firewall with the k24's taller block? and what sway bar should i use?
secondly, my long run goal is to have a supercharged k24. which brings up my second question, if i go with the k24a2 block (regardless of head), will i be able to boost 9~12 pounds off the supercharger with a2's higher compression. if not, then my first question is answered by going k24a4 block, k20a2 head.
lastly, if anyone could help me on a valvetrain setup that would work N/A and S/C, that would be great. i'm unsure if i would want to go with stage 2 cams, oem honda combination of cams, or stick to stock cams(depending on head used)
again, this will take some time to build, but i am going to start buying parts asap, i have a list of parts i need, along with some other stuff i have in the works. S/C is 2 years away.
best bang for the buck that would be able to complete long term and short term goals would be the best for me. im not looking to squeeze every .1HP out of the motor, but at same time im not looking to cut corners.
