I would really appreciate guidance from the community on the best price to list my 2002 RSX Type S. I have checked KBB and trade is $1600-3300, private party is $2500-4950. Most of the similar age and mileage models on Auto Trader are 7-12K. Would like to establish a fair price, so I thought I would come to the forum for guidance. Thanks for any input you can provide. Ad is below along with pictures.

2002 Acura RSX Type S
162,000 miles
I have owned this since 2014 and it is my daily driver to work. Have loved every mile with it and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Has been consistently reliable and regularly maintained. Two owners: previous to me buying it, my 70-year-old father owned it. Never raced, abused, or modded. Garage kept. Over the course of ownership, I had shocks, brake rotors, calipers, clutch, radiator done by a local mechanic shop. Regular synthetic oil changes. Has new set of winter tires on original rims and older Pilot Sport 3s on Momo rims. Why am I selling it? Bought a 2021 TLX Type S and also have to make room for S2000. What does it need? It’s on the last season for Pilot Sport 3s, also needs stabilizer bar links, two way valve, and oil pressure sender switch.

The Type S is becoming more rare everyday, that’s why the prices you see for other cars are higher than the KBB value. KBB doesn’t take that into consideration. I don’t think they account for inflation either honestly. Look around at the listings in your area, that’ll give you the best “fair” market value.

KBB and all the others are worthless if you ask me. Your car is worth what it’s worth and by that I mean it all depends on buyer, location, etc. Are you desperate to be rid of it or can you hang onto it awhile for top dollar? I’d say post it up for 10.5K and see if you get any bites.

Thanks so much mfarmakas17 and Agent K! I really appreciate you and your input! i am definitely NOT desperate to be rid of it. It's telling that after ten years of ownership and 80k miles, I still enjoy every drive. I like it better than the new Integra Type S. The TLX Type S was just too good a pass up and in the family, and the S2000 has been a dream car for about a decade.

KBB estimates prices based on sales, taking condition, location, and options into account. It doesn't take inflation or recent changes in demand into account. Nor do the values consider intangibles like single owner and unique factory options.

As a seller, use the private party estimate and set the price higher than you think the car is worth to allow for reasonable negotiations.

Since you know the history of it and how it was cared for etc, this is very valuable. Half of the ones for sale the owners have no idea. I think there’s a good chance you’ll miss it and regret it. Keep an eye out for seats or the skins, if you get that squared away which appears to be the only thing keeping it from being near mint? Titanium is generally the lesser desirable color so you may possibly be able to snag a great deal on seats.
Get that squares and I feel it would justify a 11-12k asking price. I feel anything less than 9k you’ll regret it. When I initially got mine I would’ve cashed you out at $9k and be a happy camper! Lol.

as is from what you describe and what we see on surface in pics. $10-11k looks like a justifiable asking price to me.

i couldn’t fathom the thought of letting mine go at any price. Think 🤔 about it a lot. This car is an awesome timeless machine. Maybe keep her and slowly modify it to your liking? that’s cool you have a current Integra and one from yesteryear. you be good for life haha

🤙🤙. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Btw i dug the S2000 myself and strongly considered one until i sat in one! Not sure if you actually drove one or not yet but if you did not. Drive one before you sell your RSX!!!

Had i met mine go to get one I would have been SICK to my stomach! Don't get me wrong I appreciate the S2K and done up right they're mean! BUT all practicality is out the window, you will miss all the things about RSX when you drive the S2K. Putting 10 bags of groceries or even Home Depot run on way home. Being able to redline and nap during lunch break stretching out your legs. Picking up a couple of buddies if need be , or if you have kids , Id need be are able to albeit snugly but can fit a couple in the back seat. Just really nice having some space yet a badass not as girly looking car (just kidding S2K guys and gals!!) Again much respect for s2k’s i appreciate then but would never own one anymore. Not after driving one. If you like the rwd aspect. Shoot there are way better rwd cars and nostalgic cars at that in my opinion.

I honestly would not trade my RSX straight across for an equally as clean S2000. Absolutely would not even have to think about it. I think a JDM DC2 would be the only Honda I’d consider losing my rsx for. MK4 one of my dream cars , Maybe a 911 of sorta (those are worthy of losing space for in my opinion) Even then I have so much time and the sentimental value would prevent me from doing it. May add a dc2 or 911 to collection one day tho 😂 and keep the Rsx.

consider keeping it man. Build a S2K killer highly doubt you’d regret dumping $ into her
😜
