What kind of power goal are you hoping for? How much driveability are you needing?

 

well its my daily and its a temp motor till im finished with my k24.....
but i wanna be able to put a lil street tune and be able to get on it and not worry to much of blowing it up...

as for power its just like 230ish with mabe a lil dope on it

 

Whats your budget because that's going to be the deciding factor...

 

Wait, you want to build your temporary motor with new internals while waiting for your new K24? That seems really dumb

 

People are harsh man...look, with 12.5:1 compression is around the max you can do on pump gas. 91 or higher is needed.if ur goal is 230, theres no need for internals on a z1. Just get full quality bolt ons and some brian crowers stage 2 cams. Youll be around 230hp. Just save your money and get pistons for the k24. Youll be much happier

 

Oh and kpro of course

 

You see... Someone else agrees. Just start getting parts for the k24. 230 is very achievable with stock pistons

 

well i spun a rod in my k20 dats why i wanna fix it...... and i dont wanna rush build cuzz i want my k24 to be fully built.........

plan for k20 is built bottom end with fully bolted.... some one told me 12.5 was to high for pump gas.... down here n south texas we got 93 so dats what i will be pumping all the time

 

im 12.5:1 and i only get 91 cause that's the highest they have in Cali... and i'm good...

 

did u get tuned right away? or is it ok to drive around on a base map?

 

You should tune it right away. I had a base map off K Pro to get me to the Dyno that night but i wouldn't drive around on it long without tuning it...

I made 235 on z1 cams, bolt ons i/rbc/h/e and a good tune. It kept up with bolt on Evo 9s.
It was a great daily driver. 91 pump.
It's more than enough power for daily.
If you want real torque power. Stay with what you have and you'll be fine.

If you have a more free flowing exhaust, depending on how well your engine is maintained, you can definitely push more than mine. I only have a 60mm Greddy SE exhaust and it's pretty restrictive.

 

Whats the highest comp you can run on 92oct and "no kpro"?

 

Why?

 

Cause as much as i would like a kpro i cant afford it at the time. But i need new pistons and rods and i dont want oem units at this time. So im thinking of bumping the compression a bit

 

If you can't afford something as important as kpro then don't do it

 

Ya i know that but i spun a main bearing and at some point ill drop the loot for a kpro but not now.
So im having a rebuild on my z1 and i want aftermarket pistons .
So you do know what i can run on my stock ecu till then? Or not

 

More compression without bigger cams won't really get you anything. And with bigger cams you'll need kpro anyway.
