Sup guys!

Soo - I've been debating this for awhile now... but wanted to get your opinions on what is probably more worth it for a DD driver?

We all know the DC5 lacks TQ... Im just looking for the extra bit to assist with DD driving.

Currently running a 03 Type S with a SRI & 05/06 Type S exhaust...

This is my solid DD Driver that gets driven through all 4 seasons, and currently my concern with a RH would be the driving during the winter and running into issues with salt etc... breaking down the header overtime. I also realize I would have to invest in MMIS/Mount Mounts/Torque Damper which would increase vibs.

All feedback is appreciated...

Thanks.

I love my reflash makes the car drive alot smoother and much better usable tourq. I think the gains from a reflash are better than a RH. The question is do you want the noise or do you want more power. I took the power of a reflash, also I did not want all the noise of RH mainly because where I live it attracts the attention of cops. My last car had RH and exhaust and I got pulled over alot.

If this is his DD then theres no point to get krpo if he's not gonna be doing anymore mods. Just get the reflash and call it a day.

Yea I went with the RH over the reflash and my buddy did the complete opposite and I deffinitley wish i would have gotten the reflash instead. The car drive a lot smoother, the crossover is a lot cleaner. And his feels like it performs better than mine. Plus once I got rid of the cat because of the RH it took me a bit to find an exhaust that kept its nice deep tone. The RH made everything raspy

Reflash, then switch to a CAI (I used to have a short ram).

I drive my car for work the reflash/CAI combo made a huge difference in normal driving. You also don't have to worry about heat soak and that sluggish feeling from sitting and idling. You won't hydrolock with a CAI unless you drive around full throttle in the rain, which you shouldn't be alive if you do that anyway.

I am from California and we do smog and I just take off my rh. That's it. Never got pulls over even with a 2.5 exhaust. Just don't drive like an ass in area that is populated with cops. I would get both if I was in your position. Rh and reflash.. It will complement each other like I/rh/e and reflash. But if your getting rbc get kpro. The temp will be cooler. Recently it been very cold here but I can't tell a different. If your worry about salt do some research on what ppl do to protect there race header. You can find a used rh like dcrh or Megan or obx v2 for under 200.

Appreciate all the feedback sooo far...
Right now I am probably leaning towards the "Reflash" being that is it my daily driver...
I might consider a RH sometime down the road, but the "Reflash" should make my day to day driving alot better.

Putting that extra RH $$$ on a new set of Coilovers is probably more worth it in the long run. Tein Street Advanced anyone? :vtec:

CAI - I use to have one on my old 1.6EL Premium 5spd (Hopefully most of know what car that is :)) Being it was my DD, I'd get shitty gas millage in the winter & the car would take forever to heat up... would the CAI on a DC5 have the same effect?

Thanks

-10c to -30c is the average temp range in Canada during the winter...

During this temp range is where I fell I lost millage and also the car would take a much longer time to heat up.

1.6EL was a smaller motor tho... K20 might heat up faster...

So what i'm getting out of all this is that a reflash isn't bad for a DD. I was eventually going to get kpro after a race header but there's not alot of shops around here that tune. Plus it's just my DD. I'm never gonna take it to a track (at least not anytime soon). I rarely race anyone and i'm not planning on getting 500whp.

So a reflash isn't that bad of an idea considering my goals? After i put on a rh and motor mounts i plan on dropping it on some nice wheels and calling it a day.

Tell you the truth. There so much thread on people review on reflash and kpro. Both have high review. Reflash is cheap but it is limited. Kpro have everything you need to tune and make your car run correctly while adding parts. You said there not alot of shop that tune. Kpro comes with base map just like reflash inside. And there is online tuning also. The search button would be your bestfriend and reading more thread beside this one. But me i prefer kpro because I can go full bolts on which is way better for DD ;)

If the car is gonna stay as your dd and your on a budget then go reflash but seriously if you got the money you can tune it to save gas use it as a dd and at the same time keep the door open for future mods kpro does come with a pre set base map that runs different from stock like it has been said here search button is your best friend and with kpro your not limited with anything but that just my opinion

Not trying to revive a thread that has been dead for 3 months, however, I have tried using the search function and have not had a clear answer as to whether or not the hondata reflash would work with a 02 RSX Type S with injen cai, DC RH. Please help me out with this answer. I would really like to get the reflash as I read/hear it is a great upgrade. Thanks in advance for not bashing me. Have a great day.

Also have a question. Since a RH will delete the cat, you'll have to take it off for emissions. What about having Kpro? If you get Kpro, wouldn't the emissions place not be able to read it? I have I/E and thinking about a header sometime later on(probably shorty due to emissions but I'll think about it) and at least for right now, thinking about getting the reflash and save up for kpro when I decide to get it since it'll be cheaper already because I would have already bought the reflash.
One more NOOB ass question. IF you can't pass emissions because of having kpro, how do people pass it with turbo/SC? (That's if kpro can't pass emissions, but if it could then this question doesn't matter)

Edit: Does adding on other mods AFTER getting the reflash make a difference if you were to do I/H/E + IMG + Reflash compared to HAVING I/E + Reflash and THEN doing headers and IMG?

Kpro can be read like the normal ECU, but you'd fail the sniffer test without a cat.

Adding mods after the reflash is fine, might have to restart the ECU though (just disconnect battery for a min, then restart and idle for a few mins). That would be with a header, but the IMG won't make any difference to the ECU. Any more mods though like intake manifold or cams or whatever will not function well with just a reflash.
