Hello everyone,
I have an 05 Type S. (Location: Nashville, TN) After replacing the OEM gear selector springs with Hybrid Racing ones, I put the shifter selector back into the transmission and as I put the bolt interlock (Part #: 24433-PH8-000) and tightened it, I overtightened the bolt cracking the threads within the case and now the bolt just spins pretty freely.
As I drive, transmission fluid leaks out of where the bolt goes which is gunking up my transmission and I would really look to repair this but I have no experience with thread repairs. Ive tried reaching out to transmission shops in my area but nobody wants to touch it so I’m taking it upon myself and hopefully with the help of this forum I can accomplish this. Can anyone please explain to me how I can go about drilling and tapping this so that I can stop the leaking? I’ve tried to watch Helicoil videos on YouTube and I’ve done so much research on this but it seems as if I’m the only fool that’s ever done this. Feel free to trash talk, but at the end of the day I really want to fix this.
the photo shown below is the exact location I am talking about and as you can see on the outer edge of the bolt is gunked up Tranny fluid.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
