Test Pipe Worth It?

I was Looking at the Test Pipe for the RSX here http://www.unforgettablesnp.com/

and was wondering if its worht it to buy it? I dont feel like going for headers at this time and this mod looks like a fairly nice one to do. Are the Gains on it anyhting good and is it worth it? I have a Comptech Cat Back now,will this bolt right up and could i do this install myself. And if i dont do the 02 sim from Caspers or the Mechanical Sim either will the engine run Closed loop and will i loose performance.

Um I am no expert at all I don't even have a TypeS but want one and have been doing my homework. From what I've read on Club RSX and automotive forums.com the cat stock is pretty free flowing and that a test pipe doesn't really do that much. I could be wrong however.

Actually, any time you get rid of the cat, or open it up with a high flowing cat, you're going to gain performance. When the exhaust gases hit the cat in our cars, its like hitting a brick wall.

A High flow cat or a test pipe will be a worthwhile investment. That is if you can go catless. You'll notice a reasonable pull. Read some reviews. Most people are very content.

where can you buy a high flow cat for the rsx? And would it still pass emissions test?? not that we have them here, just like to stay legal

Look into Random technology high flow cat for the rsx. I'am running that with the comptech cat-back and it's a nice setup. I measured the diameter of the random technology cat and it's 2.5 inches.

Yea that does sound nice but that cat is somewhere around 300$$ where as the Test pipe is only 170. Are there any noticable gains with the high flow cat. Therese a used one on ebay i thik going for only 50$$. and it has an o2 sim

im gonna get a RH...just to keep it simple and later get kpro. or both around the same time. plus FL dosent do emission testing

Yes the Megan Racing Testpipe for the Civic SI will fit on the Base RSX. I have it on my car and I really like it. I also have a aftermarket shorty header and with the two together it is a great alternative to a race header.

Good high flow cats flowbench at around 85-90% of the flow you'd get from a straight pipe. You can get Carsounds for under 100 bucks.

Well worth it considering the fines you're in for if you get caught without one.

Anyone who sells Carsound/Magnaflow cats. They're universal, though, so you'll need flanges welded on.

Dont get a test pipe.

A full exhaust with no restrictions is pretty loud, and will make your car stink. You'll definitely be getting pulled over for sound, and even heavily fined for not having a cat if they do decide to look under the car.

Not worth it for the small amount of gains you'll get, as well as making your car a nuisance if you daily drive it.

That is correct. And it does throw a CEL. It makes the car really loud if you already have a loud exhaust.

prolly smells like driving behind a car that is giving smoke out of it's exhaust...here's a link of exhaust sounds...a lot of these cars have race headers=>no cat.

a friend of mines took his cat out and his car stink...it actually smells like burning oil.

I did a 3"DP for my 1.8T in the audi and it came with a test pipe. Makes a big diff with the turbo Dont know how it will work on your car but I say go for the Headers
