I will be picking up a K20A Type R swap next week, so I will be selling my K20A2 with 6-speed trans locally. I just want to pick your brains a little on what these sell for nowadays so I can set a price point. Anyone bought a K20A2 recently and care to share what they paid?

Over the past year the prices and values for even the K20a2 have sky rocketed. The value of the K20aR complete swap has gone up $3,000 from hmotorsports. To retain their warranty, it costs even more out of pocket about another $750 by the parts you have to purchase.

The world is severely broken right now. It has been a long time since I looked at prices for these engines, but I knew they used to be a heck of a lot cheaper. I am about to dump $5,000 on a K20A with a transmission. When I got stationed in Japan in 2018 I bought an EP3 Type R for $6,000; crazy, crazy, crazy.

Well, I am picking up the Type R engine/trans, harness/ECU tomorrow. I just have a quick question for you guys. I know the K20z1 ECU and harness will work fine with the K20A Type R engine/trans, but is it better/safer to use the actual Type R ECU and harness?

Thanks man! You are always on top of it. I have another question I can't seem to find the answer to. So we know the 2002-2004 RSX-S use a low freq VSS and the 2005-2006 is high freq. Are the JDM Type R K20A the same? The guy I just bought the K20A Accord Euro R engine/trans/ECU from told me it was from a 2005, but it turns out its from a 2004. I do not see the VSS on the back of the trans like the K20A2.
