I bought the RSX almost exactly 10 years ago. Its been an amazingly fun and reliable car!, but im getting older, and I have a longer rougher commute these days, and I couldnt take it anymore. So I picked up a low mileage 2015 Civic SI from a private seller. So far im loving it. It feels just as quick as the rsx, but alot more mature. That extra low end torque is noticeable in traffic. But the RSX was more raw. I drove quite a few 9th and 10th gen Civic si's and I decided that I wanted to stick with the K-series over the new 1.5 turbo motor. The K-Series was bulletproof in the RSX and I expect the same here. My wife drives a Focus ST, and the new 1.5T cars felt more akin to that car than any previous honda. They were great to drive, but honestly the Focus handles better, makes alot more power, and costs less if your looking for that tiny turbo, big torque character.

Im not sure what im going to do with the RSX, but its getting expensive to keep on the insurance and registration. I thought about building a turbo motor and making it a toy, but it kind of feels like a shame to mess up a fairly nice, clean carfax, adult owned, 100% stock, 136k mile 05 Type-S. However if I sell it, im sure some kid would do far worse anyways.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the clubrsx members for all the info and advice over the last 10 years with the RSX. Its been a blast!, and I hope you all guys have as good of a ownership experience as I did.

A nice, clean, stock RSX Type-S is highly sought after and worth a few bucks. If the costs to keep it are a concern, obviously selling it is the answer. If you keep it, my preference would be to keep it stock, but to each his own.

I loved my '03 Type-S but I ran out of garage space when I bought my 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. I hated to see it sit outside all the time so I sold it. It served me well for 17 years and 168,000 miles.

Good luck with the Si. Loved my '90 Si Hatchback. 13 years, 239,000 miles, original clutch and engine. No breakdowns, just normal maintenance parts replacements.

I still have a S2000 for the weekends... Not that old yet.. But yeah, the RSX was my comfy commuter. I was driving about 30 minutes to work doing 55 on a 2 lane highway... The RSX is great at that. But now Im driving a hour to work 80mph on a horrid interstate. The drone is real. In 6th gear in the Civic im now turning 2800rpm on the interstate while sipping gas quitely and comfortably. The RSX was buzzing at 4000+rpm . The RSX (especially the 05-06) just were not geared for interstate travel.

The reasons I didnt really consider the ILX are..

1. Availability of what I wanted. Acura did offer a 3 pedal ilx, But they are unicorns... Only one is listed within 500 miles of me on auto-trader...

2. I really like the simple clean design language of the 9th gen civic vs the giant chrome beak that acura was putting on all cars back then.

3. I work at a honda dealership, so parts discounts/service info/willing techs are more accessable.

The cars that I was seriously considering and drove quite few of were..

1. 14-15 9th gen SI Sedan. - Cheapest to buy and own. Its a K-Series with a manual. Its Bulletproof. But still new enough that it has features like touch screen infotainment, gps navi, bluetooth, traction control, multiple cameras etc, to feel modern.
2. 16+ 10th gen SI Sedan. - Still a Honda Civic SI. More Torque, but higher cost of ownership. I wouldnt call the 1.5T suspect, but its not a K-series. Also I find them ugly.
3. 17+ Accord Sport 2.0T manual - Tons of torque and a bargain if you can find one. It was alot of fun blasting one of these down a exit ramp, but it does feel like a big heavy car. The hood is long and visibility sucks.
4. 13-18. Focus St. - Just buy one... Its the performance bargain of a lifetime right now. My wife daily's one that has 140k on it. Its way more fun than any of the cars listed above. IF I DIDNT WORK AT A HONDA DEALER THIS IS WHAT I WOULD BUY 100%.
5. New Civic Type R. - I could buy one at invoice(possibly lower with employee pricing), but I need a new house more. This would have been the most expensive route, to buy own and insure. Also I really like what im seeing out of the new 22+ 11th gen civic's. Theres a good chance I may pick up one of those in a few years.
6. WRX/STI - I drove quite a few, and they were amazing, but I dont want to live my life one short block at a time.

Shit... Maybe I am an old fart.. I think I made the responsible decision..lol

Older dude here, and I loooove my '03 RSX.

Has Mugen kit, 143K, and cleeeean

Just feels raw, and timeless.

And still get piece signs on the road from other RSX's that pass by, or the JDM boys.

If I ever were to sell my RSX, it would never ever be sold to some snot-nosed kid.

Only to someone that would value it as much as I have over these past 15 years.

Don't sell the RSX if its clean. Maintain it, keep it clean, and keep the mileage low. Wait for about 5-10 years for these cars to shoot up in value. 80s and 90s imports are going up in prices now, its only a matter of time before people get nostalgic about these early 2000s imports.
