I have been on a mission to de-clutter my engine bay lately and for the longest time, have disliked the overy long DC5 throttle cables. They got in the way, required Adel clamps in order to keep them from getting caught in other moving parts, and so on. I got rid of my cruise control a while back and long-envied the Honda swaps that had these petite little throttle cables that did not look like a lasso in the engine bay.

Then one day, I saw this from K-Tuned...

Yay! A shorty throttle cable for the DC5. I ordered it a while back and finally got around to installing it when I was doing some other work in the engine bay recently.

Installation takes about 15 minutes with basic hand tools. First, unclip the white plastic retainer behind the gas pedal and then fish it through the firewall from the engine bay. The OEM cable is on top, new K-Tuned unit below, for comparison. The rubber bumper is quite a bit different but does not alter the feel that I can tell...

Next, pass the new K-Tuned cable through the firewall and snap the plastic retaining clip to the gas pedal. There is a rubber grommet that needs to be transferred frok the old unit to the new one and long pair of needle-nose pliers makes it easiest to rotate the firewall fitting into place...

Then, you will unbolt the RSX throttle cable bracket and replace it with the billet unit that K-Tuned provides. Please not that this cable WILL NOT work with the Honda bracket. I believe that K-Tuned provides the billet piece as part of their package now.

Once the new bracket is in place, attach the cable end to the throttle body and snug up the stop nuts. That's it, you're done. On my car, I found it necessary to trim a bit off the rubber bead of my CAI elbow, since the billet bracket is fatter than the stamped Honda unit. Here are photos of the cable installed...

If having cruise control is not an issue for you and the thought of tidying up the engine bay is appealing, I highly recommend the K-Tuned throttle cable bracket.

That is awesome man, i have thought about trying a civic ex throttle cable several times off of a 98 just to see if it would work but this is easier...Engine bay looks great man...

Just installed mine, got the black bracket when I ordered it last month. That bracket on the TB didn't like my coupler either. Just took the Dremel to it to sand it down a slight bit and it went on ok.

ok its been a looooong time since i was under the hood of my car(i miss it so much!!) and iirc the throttle cable comes from the driver side of the bay and then wraps around. the cruise control cable comes from the passenger side and wraps around the front with the throttle cable. now, if i were to use this k-tuned cable, would i be able to use the stock throttle cable in place of the cruise control cable? that extra foot and a half or so of cable may give enough extra slack to be able to tuck the cruise control cable under the rbc so now there wont be anymore cables wrapping around the bay and ill still get to retain my cruise control function. just an idea, think itll work? obviously this is something i would be able to measure myself but being where i am is kind of keeping me from making such a measurement.

dont be a puss. delete that cruise control.
but no why wouldnt u just use the throttle cable from a b series civic? u can retain your CC and keep the regular throttle cable from wrapping over the engine
