I would recommend JDM K20A base model. They are more reliable.

 

I'm interested to know how it's more reliable when it's the exact same engine?

 

My buddy bought an engine from Engine World Inc in Houston for his RSX. They are in Houston. He is very happy with his motor. Let me hunt for their website and let you know if that helps.

You'll be happy to learn you have a lot of great K series options:

• K20A Type R
• K20A2 Type S 02-04
• K20Z1 Type S 05-06
• K20Z3 Civic Si 06-11
• K24A2 TSX

Yeah the K20A base is an option but it will not be a power upgrade

 

For the k24a2 would I have to change the tranny cus mine is an auto.

I'm trying to get my hands on a newer engine too, my 02' Type S has 191k and has been dying at idle randomly, burning through oil like crazy, and making some weird boost-like noises at high rpm's. I'm assuming this is a beat up engine issue (correct me if this sounds wrong) but is there a difference in cost between the various K20 models? I was considering the K24 swap because I want to turbo it eventually, but it sounds like a pretty hairy swap if you don't have the right mechanics, plus it would cost more than a grand extra, correct?
