Talked to a few of the guys from Corsport and THmotorsports.com about their stock on coilovers and such the other day. I was looking at buying the Progress Competition Coilovers from CRSX but its obvious they have NO IDEA when they are actually coming in.

On the other hand, I contact THmotorsports and they say "arrival date of April 6th, we get multiple systems in stock". Seems a little more helpful no? Not to mention they are keeping the price at $900 instead of jumping it up to $960 like CRSX just did....

Okay but those two statements are besides the point.

I was talking to a few of the guys from THmotorsports and told them I've had Megan Racing Street, as well as my current setup on Buddy Club N+ and I couldn't and can't stand either one of them.

He said a big problem is that Buddy Club as well as Megan Racing products are manufactured in the same factory and basically have "the same guts".

I told them I like to drive a little aggressively at times, but my car is my DD and I want to keep it that way. All of the reps recommended either Progress (if I want to stay with full coilovers) OR to go with a set of "Ground Control" sleeves (which use eibach springs) and match them with a pair of Koni Yellows (lifetime warranty). They said I could EASILY lower my car safely to 2.5 inches all the way around with that setup, it would be the most comfortable ride out of the rest of my prior setups, and the struts offer a lifetime warranty. I saw on forums that people say Koni Yellows blow if you lower more than 1.5'', but I am being told otherwise by the company. Koni>>>Random ppl on forum? Dunno.

What do you guys think?

**note: I do use the forums and do research and stuff, but if you think this is a stupid question, please STFU before you get ahead of yourself. Simple question deserves simple answers. :) thanks.

Any shock that is lowered on too low will blow, which is why coilovers with independent height adjustment are good for people who want to drop really low. Konis tend to blow on low drops with progressive springs, but fair pretty well on linear springs. That being said, 2.5" is a LOW drop and they won't be able to handle that. You can call koni to shorten the stroke, which will allow you to lower more.

My question to you is.. Why couldn't you stand either one of them?

Do you actually know what you want out of your suspension?

The answer that they gave you is fucking stupid. I beg to differ about the BuddyClub being "same guts" out of a factory. "Same guts" or not doesn't fucking matter. I know from their response that they're just fucking ricers and don't understand shit.

For Koni's, no you cannot lower more than 1.5inch without revalving them to accomodate the drop.

KONI specifically states any warrantly claim for the shock with a greater than 1.5 inch drop will be voided. Yes, they have ways of telling whether you lowered more than 1.5 inches or not.

Well this explains that small camera and antenna that was attached to my Konis when I installed them. It also explains the black Chevy Tahoe with the tinted windows with the Swedish plates that's always parked in front of my house.:shady::shady:

i think konis with eibach pro-kits gives a nice drop....look in the sportline and pro-kit thread, and i think its page 3 or 4 it shows a MM dropped on koni and pro-kit. prokits by the way drop 1 inch in the front and 1.4 in the back

EDIT: heres the link it was page 3... http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=530039&page=3

that's JGM, not MM. that's my wife's car.

pro-kit + koni yellows + whiteline rear sway = completely transformed car.

Well let's say that you got the same spring rates as the Progress Coilovers and matched them with Koni Yellows. So then you will have good spring rates with good ride quality. Wouldn't that be a suitable setup for the RSX?

GC usually lets you select your own spring rates, don't they?
From what I know, you can either get your own custom rates or you can choose a ride feel (street or autocross/sport) where I am guessing they choose spring rates they find suitable.

Right. Well, I'm only 15 (still trying to get my permit ), so I really don't know what I want out of the RSX or if I will even be getting one. I will hopefully be able to answer those aspects later on. Just trying to research some stuff first.

are you referring to my review of the konis + pro-kit springs? i like the setup a lot, as does she. it is probably 20-25% harsher than stock, but she doesn't mind. the car obviously has less body roll in turns, and the larger rear sway seems to have dialed out most of the stock understeer. and, now with a good alignment and some negative camber, the car seems to handle pretty well.

i don't know anything about the GC sleeves. i am always a fan of a well-matched spring/damper combo, as opposed to coilovers, unless you spend the money for quality coilovers. then again, 90% of the people on this site that have coilovers care about ride height more than handling, so it all depends on what you want.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. :) How long has she had the setup?
