Why is the RSX such an unloved platform?

Outside of those that either own an RSX or have driven one there seems to be no love for the car.

I would like people to share their ideas on why they think this is.

Car Shows: Nothing can beat a jdm front dc2 or a clean 92-95 hatch.

Drag racing: Too heavy to be competitive in most classes, like the prelude back when it mattered.

Autocrossing/Road Racing: Macpherson strut issues, weight again.

Parts makers jumped all over the new Civic and created things that still aren't available for the RSX. Even at SEMA a few years back the RSX wasn't a chassis worth investing in for a handful of companies.

What gives?

hmm I'm in on this.

I always thought the RSX was a good platform. It drives and handles pretty well imo (but then I haven't driven that many cars yet) Car review magazines also praised the rsx for its performance, and I think it won some car magazine awards or something? :dontknow:

This.

But same thing will happen to the generation driving the DC5 I suppose. Like me for example, definitely wont be going Honda again, nothing against Honda just had my fun, probably go German.

See following recommendation from slammed em1 for more luxurious :beerchug:

idk i guess u can say its personal preference.....

i love my type s because of the looks, interior, reliabilty, and i love the k series plus gas saver etc.....i drive a ssm 02 type s btw..

other people like the older platforms like ef, eg, 240s, rx7......some people like the cars that come turbo from factory, jetta, srt4....some people like luxury like bmw, lexus, benz....

the racing you can say either come track ready or just a more recommended platform to work with when it comes to it....i just str8 up thing its personal preference...
First, I love my 05 type-s. One of the many reasons is that I owned a 94 dc2-rs prior to this 05 dc5-s. They are both manual (94 is 5-spd and 05-s is 6-spd). IMHO, it handles very good comparing to what I used to drive even Evo 7/8 and Infiniti G37. I drove both cars for few weeks and didn't like both comparing to the love at first sight with my 05 type-s (sorry, I don't like the 02-04 DC4 headlight + taillight, but no offense)

Luxury-wise, I used to drive my gf  Mercedes-SLK (RWD) and my cousin Bimmer 335 (Turbo RWD), it is hard to compare to our RSX/DC5, BUT I feel it is the BEST FWD car!!!

I love my car. It seems everyone is about speed and going fast anymore. Atleast around where I live it is anymore. Everyone and there mom is trying to get a sc mustang or some bs. I dd my car and thing its great. Love how it handles and its not like its the slowest thing out there either. Plus its reliable and IMO the Rsx is one of the best looking cars out there. I guess its all about oppinion.

I had a gsr dc2, and I wouldn't trade my ep3 for it ever. And to the earlier comment, that a dc2 rapes the RSX: best motoring tested all the type r models and I believe the dc5r came in second to the fd2. I think most people are moving away from Hondas (and) acuras due to the fact that they don't want to be a part of the Honda crowd. Think about it, if they buy a Honda and modify it, their friends will call them ricers and all that other stupid bullshit. But if they buy a stang or camaro or pretty much anything v8, everyone will think they are so cool. The scene is changing. Now if you don't have a perfect JDM knockoff or 500 horsepower, nobody cares. I went the HFP, Mugen, and power route myself, cause I built my car for me, and could give a phyuck less what any dumbass thinks about my car. I love my ep, but I wouldn't mind a 06 type s w/ a spec kit either. ;). Build for you, and the hell with whatever anyone else thinks.

because for half the money spent on aftermarket mods for a rsx, you can have a track ready car on a dc2 or eg6 chassis (suspension wise that is)

i would have to agree with u. every car is built for a diferent puspose imo. and i like the purpose of the DC5 which is dd reliability and good gas milage. car is comfy and looks sexy. i still love the dc2 and the eg and ek....am not a big fan of the newer civics though or the ludes :coffee:

What u said about weight etc. But a company simply has to evaluate the money making opportunity. The RSX is discontinued. The Civic is here to stay. (one of honda's dumbest decisions ever but as a peripherals manufacturer you have to pick a volume platform, not just a technically sound platform)

people don't hate the rsx for what it is. they hate the car because lets face it, all of you and i drive like assholes in them. just seeing the car conjures inner frustration and homicidal thoughts to those around us on the road. besides, im sure a bunch of us look the part of douchebaggery and faggotry in real life. good job crsx. :drink:
