Hey Folks,

Im looking at changing up my suspension setup from stock. Im looking to make it a little more fun for spirited driving, and the odd track day. 98% of my driving will be the regular daily driving. So I dont want to be driving a rattle can all the time. I also live in Canada where the weather sucks and they salt everything.

Between a setup of Koni/S-techs or Tein Basis coilovers, what would you do?

Performance takes precedence over style.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm holding you to this quote so for under $1000, I would say go a-spec suspension or koni yellows and tein h-techs. S-techs are too low of a drop and honestly tein basics are not that great coilovers. Tein does make good coilovers but not any of the ones under $2000. If you want coils, megans or progress but I personally prefer shock/springs over coils, I could give a shit less about height adjustability.

I personally use raceland coilovers ($369). Don't let the price fool you, they're great for daily driving and stiffer than oem type s suspension. Great choice if you want a cheap way to lower your car with added handling.

Quote from raceland's site:

"The Acura RSX coilovers are height-adjustable with CNC-machined locking perches, which allow you to easily adjust your ride height from 1 to 3 inches below that of the OEM suspension. This allows for a more aggressive stance and a lower center of gravity. In addition, you will experience an increase in the handling and performance of your vehicle while maintaining comfortable ride quality."

If you know anything about the EP3/RSX suspension design then you know that this statement is a flaming bag of horseshit. The lower you go, the worse your car handles. Plus the spring rates are a complete joke. 330 lbs/in front, 125 lbs/in rear, that's even softer than stock and there is no reason the rear spring rates should be softer than the front. These cars need higher spring rates in the rear. Unless someone is only interested in dumping their car, take your racelands and :gtfo:

This is my car on Tein S tech. I never scraped anywhere or had any problems rubbing. The height is great for a daily driven car. With koni's they would be much more responsive. They were on OEM shocks when I used them an they were very soft.
