Is it like this? This is what mine is doing. Really annoying noise.

http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=792685
goddamn that sucks lol.... thats got to be your actuator because the sound isnt (for lack of a better word) linear to the lock going up or down. that only leaves the actuator.

as for the other guy, squeaking could mean something needs lubed.... best bet is to pop the door panel off and see where the noise is coming from.... the actuators done come apart (easily) so they are not serviceable if the squeak is coming from there.

THIS IS MORE FOR THOSE FIRST TIMERS MESSING WITH THE RSX DOORS. . .

You would think is self explanatory, but i did not know what was involved with the door removal and replacing of the door actuator. . . I would say the removal of the door panel is about a 1 out of 10, the door actuator is a 5.

Driver Door Actuator part #72155-S5P-A11 $ it ranges from $25 to 64, depending on dealership.

First off. . The large arrows shows the sequence i went in. . The circles are the screws that needed to be removed.

Above: Remove panel behind the handle. Use a small screw driver to unclip it. Lift on the little tab and it should pop right out.
Above: Unclip the power to the door locks
Below: Be careful with these plastic clips (purple clip) to remove the rods
Below: Unplug the power windows clip.

DOOR PANEL SHOULD BE FREE!
For the Actuator. . .Continue. .
Above: Pop off the gasket holding the plastic in place
Below: Again, be careful with the removal of the plastic clips when removing the two rods, a gold one and a smaller silver one.
Below: Unscrew the three screws at the side of the door.

Remove black plug to release the shroud around the door lock.
Boom. . there is the actuator.
Remove one black screw from the metal plate. Replace actuator. .
Repeat procedure backwards. .
Good Luck!

WOW!

Just finished replacing the actuator. Thank you for the awesome thread.

Changing these things is quite challenging as shown in all of these posts. The most difficult part is the gold rod for sure.......to get the gold rod off, I used a pair of vice grips.....I put the top end of the vice grip over the tip of the rod and the bottom end on the side of the thing it sits in.........then basically squeezed and popped it right out......it took me about half an hour to figure this out so i thought I would post it.

When you remove the black screw that holds the actuator and pop off the gold plate you have to be very careful to make sure you see how all of the cable/components are attached......very important if you want to be able to get it back together properly.

I am SO happy this thing worked after I installed it....you have to be very patient.

i wonder if my driver door needs the actuator replacement. with only the driver door i can lock and unlock the driver door only with the key and with the passenger door, with the key i can lock and unlock both doors and the trunk.

Here is what happened to my car when the driver side door actuator was broken:

1. When I locked my doors with the fob only the passenger side and the hatch would lock.

2. When i was on the inside of the car and had all of doors closed and the key out of the ignition, and I pressed down on the drivers side door lock button, only the passenger side door and hatch would lock......the button still worked.

3. I could still lock the drivers side door with a key form the outside and then press the alarm button to activate the alarm and horn.

Had to replace my passenger side one today...
Crazy that i had to refer to this again to see what i had to do..
That golden rod was the biggest PITA! I used a panel popper tool and was able to pry it off.

The biggest challenge i faced with the passenger side was the window track thing... That just kept getting in the way...

just to let you guys know the black plastic door lock actuator you are replacing pops right apart easily and theres a lil $5 motor that can be replaced inside, im currently ordering one off ebay, ill post a write up when it arrives and i confirm it works... cheers

i cannot fuckin get the actuator out for the life of me. how does it slide out for u guys? it has like this 90degrees angle plastic piece attach to it. i haven't try to take the bolt from the window rail yet but i might have to try that tomor.
mean while, any suggestion for me plz?
thanks in advance

just follow the rods up that hook to the door handle and the other hooks to the inside door handle maybe? youll see em, the inside door lock you grab will slide down straight through the door without being unhooked anywhere

Thanks for the write up, it made for a quick fix. My tip for getting the gold bar out is spray some silicone lubricant and hold the handle open from the outside and use a screwdriver placed between the gold bar and the plastic tab to easily pry it out.

Awesome write up.. In fact I have to replace both my actuator even though the passenger still works, but i'm sure it will go out anytime so I'll just be replacing both of my actuators next week.
